French Marigolds are known for their long-lasting blooms, adding cheer and beauty to your garden from September through February. These beauties are low-maintenance and easy to care for, making them perfect for beginner gardeners.

Planting is a breeze!

When your seedlings are about 15-20 days old, simply transplant them directly into your prepared garden beds or pots (POBs) that are at least 7-8 inches in diameter.

Here’s how to prepare your planting area:

  • Dig up the soil in your garden bed to a depth of 10-15 centimeters (about 4-6 inches).
  • Test your soil’s pH level and adjust it with lime or dolomite if needed.
  • Mix a generous amount of organic manure (50-100 kg per 100 square meters) into the loosened soil.

Instructions for transplanting into pots:

  • Create a potting mix using a combination of composted yard manure, washed cocopeat (coconut fiber), vermicompost (worm castings), bonemeal, powdered neem cake (natural pest repellent), and garden soil.
  • Fill your pots ¾ of the way with this potting mix.

Planting Time of French Marigold Seedlings!

Space your seedlings 45 centimeters (about 18 inches) apart in rows that are 30 centimeters (about 12 inches) apart, whether planting in beds or pots.

After Planting Care:

  • To discourage pests and diseases, it’s recommended to fumigate your plants every 2-3 days, depending on the weather conditions.
  • Start fertilizing your French Marigolds 5-6 days after planting, following a recommended fertilizer schedule.
  • To encourage bushier growth, pinch the tips of your seedlings when they are 25-30 days old.

With a little care, your French Marigold Seedlings will reward you with a vibrant and long-lasting display of color throughout the season!
