Grow Delicious Melons All Year Round with Our High-Quality OP Melon Seedlings!
Get ready to harvest juicy and flavorful melons throughout the year with our carefully selected OP (Open-Pollinated) melon seedlings. We offer three popular varieties: Mudicode Local, Sambar Vellari, and Soubhagya. Each tray contains 100 healthy seedlings, ready to be transplanted directly into your garden.
Planting is a breeze! The ideal planting seasons for melons in India are typically from September/October to April/May. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get you started:
-
Land Preparation: Begin by preparing raised beds in your open field. Make sure the beds are 80-90 cm wide and 10-15 cm tall, with a 50 cm gap between each bed.
-
Soil Enhancement: Conduct a soil test to determine the appropriate amount of lime or dolomite needed for optimal pH levels. After 6 days, enrich the soil by adding 50-100 kg of organic manure per cent (unit of land area) and mix it thoroughly.
-
Irrigation System: Set up a drip irrigation line on the prepared beds and cover them with a 1.2-meter wide plastic mulch sheet.
-
Transplanting: Once your seedlings are 15-20 days old and have 2-4 leaves, they are ready for transplanting. Plant them in a single row on the prepared beds, maintaining a spacing of 0.5 meters between each seedling.
-
Aftercare: During dry weather, provide water using a sprayer at a rate of 1.0-1.5 liters per plant per day. Additionally, follow a recommended fertilizer schedule, starting from the 3rd day after planting.
- Pest & Disease Control: Watch for common melon problems such as leaf-eating beetles, leaf miners, fruit flies, mites, powdery mildew, and viruses. Take appropriate control measures to ensure the health of your melon plants.
Why wait?
By following these simple steps, you’ll be well on your way to cultivating a thriving melon patch and enjoying the fruits (or should we say melons!) of your labor throughout the year.
